Samuel Henry Butcher, MP (16 April 1850 – 1910) Dublin born classical scholar and, in his final years, an English politician. His many publications included, in collaboration with Dr Andrew Lang, a prose translation of Homer’s Odyssey which appeared in 1879.
He was one of the two Members of Parliament for Cambridge University, between 1906 and his death, representing the Unionist Party.
