Rodney Jon Welford (born 30 September 1958 in Brisbane) is a Queensland, Australia state politician. He was first elected to be a member of the Queensland Parliament in 1989 in the division of Stafford for the Labor Party. At the 1992 election he successfully stood in the division of Everton, for which he is still the sitting member.

He is currently Minister for Education, Training and the Arts.

Previously he was the Attorney-General of Queensland (22 February 2001 - 28 July 2005).

Before Parliament

Welford was a prominent solicitor and barrister prior to entering politics. He is active in his community being a member of the Royal Lifesaving Society and a Branch, State and National Medal winner for his Surf LIfe Saving Club Burleigh Heads Mowbray Park on the Gold Coast. Rod is also the patron of the Albany Creek Junion Rugby League Football Club, the Pinehills Sports Club and the Mitchelton Senior Citizens Association. His personal interests include philosophy, permaculture, swimming, surfing and reading.
